Objectives
SCW is a community writing and publishing organisation which is open to all. Our membership happily encompasses all levels of aspiration and experience from published novelists to those just starting to write and from academics to learning disabled. All are welcome.
Our regular workshops are aimed at encouraging members to find their own voice and experiment with new writing methods and styles. We aim to provide a light-hearted, friendly and supportive environment, where you can discuss your work with like-minded people. All members are encouraged to be actively involved in the running of SCW As well as the weekly group meeting, we hold regular social events.

Activities
The Monday Evening group:
Meets every Monday evening from 7:30 till 9:30 at The Isobel Blackman Club (WRVS), South Street, St Leonards On Sea, East Sussex, TN37 6AP
We meet most Monday evenings between September and July but there are exceptions so it is always wise to contact us and check we will be there.
There is even a free car park (after 6pm) beside the building.

Short Fuse in Hastings
This is to let you know that Short Fuse is alive and well, and living in The Jenny Lind, Hastings Old Town.
Louise and Tara have been overcome with logistical problems and are unable to carry on with Short Fuse in Hastings, but the good news is that they have asked Shorelink Community Writers to run the Hastings group, whilst they carry on with the Brighton Short Fuse. As many of you are aware, Shorelink has always believed that Short Fuse fulfils an important function in giving short story writers a platform for their work. Therefore, we are excited to be given this opportunity to take the event forward.
We have set up a special panel to read the stories as they come in. As you know, the standard of writing at Short Fuse is incredibly high, and we hope to achieve a balanced and entertaining programme.
Our next date is 24th June, same time, same place (see the poster) and we are asking you to write a story incorporating the sentence: You can always tell when there’s trouble brewing. The closing date for entries is Wednesday 13th June 2012.

The Shorelink Anthology
Linda and Jan have been working hard and have succeeded in getting together an anthology of Shorelink’s work. It was launched at the annual Shorelink party on 21st August, 2010, and is entitled "A Cuppa and Custard Creams"

Shorelink Authors work chosen for Forces Anthology
Jan Hedger and Sally Gardner have both been published in "Poems Of The Poppies", while Sally and Roland Gardner have both had short stories published in "Stories of the Poppies".
Jan and Roland also had poems published in "Voices of the Poppies", which was released by FLOW in 2008
All three anthologies were put together by FLOW, (Forces Literary Organisation Worldwide) from entries to poetry and short story competitions held in 2008/9, the work being voted in by members, so our three Shorelinkers are justly proud of this achievement.

Lillian's Story,
One Woman’s Journey through the 20th Century
A novel written by our own Sally Gardner, it was published on 27th February 2007 by The Book Guild and launched at The London Book Fair.
It's a cracking good read, and continues to grow in popularity and is available in libraries in the UK and parts of the USA! You can find out more about this novel and the links to it, as well as to Sally's other two novels, on her web site below.

Achievements by other members of Shorelink
Antony May
has produced two CDs, the first one In Words In Music, on which he performs his poetry set to music, and "Timeless", an excellent album, on which he wrote and performs all the songs.

A celebration in Words and Music
At the Phoenix Arts Centre, October 2nd, 2009.
This was a highly successful evening in aid of Bluebell Ridge Animal Sanctuary, altogether over £500 was raised.

On February 27th, 2010, we held the
Shorelink Quiz Evening
The quiz was a resounding success, with Shorelink able to donate half the takings of £180 to St Michael's Hospice!
We held a second Shorelink Quiz Evening
On Saturday, 2nd October, 2010, for St Michael’s Hospice,
which enabled Shorelink to present them with a cheque for £400
